Tidewater Art Center & Gallery Artists

Helen’s interest in Art began to develop early during high school. She pursued 4-1/2 years of the study of Art at CSU Long Beach studying wood, metal, drawing, painting, ceramics, theatre design, sculpture and textile design. Emphasis was on crafts, drawing and painting. She taught Art for SUSD for 25 years until her retirement in 2000.

Since retiring, although teaching at Delta College and New Directions, Helen is devoting more time to her lifelong love of painting.

Working in abstract expressionism, Helen uses acrylic, colored pencil and collage to express feeling through color and texture. She wants her paintings to express a bit of the mystery of life. It is her hope that viewers will stand before her work and exact a message from it that is for them very personal.

She has appeared in numerous shows including the Unitarian Art Festival, Reynolds Gallery, Wine Country Show, Alan Short Gallery, Gallery 10 in Sutter Creek and Studio Central in Stockton.
