About us

The Tidewater Art Center & Gallery is an artists’ cooperative in downtown Stockton offering the community a wide variety of fine art. Established in 2000, Tidewater boasts 21 member artists, several consignment artists, and a 15-member Board of Directors. The Tidewater Art Center & Gallery was created and located downtown to present and promote the visual arts to the City of Stockton and San Joaquin County. Its goal is to encourage an awareness of and appreciation for the arts, to sponsor education in the visual arts, and to provide a facility for instruction, creation, and display of art.

Exhibits featuring member artists and guest artists change monthly with a wine and hors d’oeuvres “Meet-the-Artist” reception hosted every second Friday, 5-8 p.m. Artists offer a variety of unique fine art including paintings, prints, photography, jewelry, art glass, ceramics, metal sculpture, and unique cards.

The Tidewater Gallery has been consistently voted “Best in San Joaquin” in The Record’s annual poll for the past seven years. For the past six years, Tidewater has offered a student art show featuring Stockton high school students.

This year’s, held in February, was the largest ever with 220 entries, double from last year, with 11 Stockton area high schools participating. At last year’s Stockton Arts Commission Awards Gala, the Tidewater Gallery received the “Mayor’s Award” for its contributions to the community.

the gallery exists on community support through “Friends of the Gallery” donations, and fundraisers, including the widely-acclaimed annual Souper Supper and Auction in February and a Taste of Art & Wine event in the summer.

The Tidewater Art Center & Gallery is located directly across the street from the County Courthouse at 223 E. Weber Avenue. Regular weekday hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
